This is medical advancement that gives the general public one of the finest technological devices available for knee pain.
What does a patellar tendon strap do?
Let’s start with a basic anatomical fact: Running, jumping and even walking subject your two knees to an extreme amount of force given an awkward alignment of all the moving parts. From a purely engineering perspective, it is not ideal.
The setup puts repeated stress on the joint that can irritate your patellar tendon – a reality that announces itself through knee pain during physical activity.
Enter the FLX Knee Support strap.
The adjustable band applies just enough pressure on the patellar tendon to better align it with your kneecap. It changes both the direction and magnitude of the force on the knee while also providing stability.
Basically, a patellar tendon strap keeps the knee in proper alignment to reduce strain.
FLX Knee Support a simple and low-risk way to bring some relief.
How to wear a patellar tendon strap
There are three things that matter when you wear a patellar tendon strap: location, location, location. Hitting the proper pressure point on the tendon is key to delivering relief and support.
The front center of the strap – where there’s typically a puffy pad or cushion – should sit directly under your kneecap where the patellar tendon attaches to the patella.
Tighten the adjustable strap until you feel a bit of pressure on the tendon. Avoid the temptation to over tighten. This is a support band, after all, not a tourniquet. It shouldn’t leave your lower leg feeling numb or tingly.
Who could benefit from a patellar tendon strap?
If you’re an active person with an occasionally achy knee, a patellar tendon band is definitely worth buying. For people engaging in any activity that puts strain upon the Knee will certainly benefit from the extra support the FLX Knee Support provides.
The FLX Knee Support Your Questions Answered
about the FLX Knee Support.
FLX Knee Support has several important features and benefits which set it completely apart from other devices that can be found in the marketplace today.
First, FLX Knee Support was designed by an internationally known practising orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with over 27 years experience treating Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs). So FLX Knee Support was designed with real life case studies, not in some laboratory with artificial knees or plastic models, but with real people with real knee problems.
Secondly, FLX Knee Support functions as an interactive pump and strategic shock absorber rather than a tourniquet like other knee bands that actually may cause swelling and constrict blood flow.
FLX Knee Support was designed with such precision that your muscles will actually relax rather than constrict during physical exertion. This reduces stress on your tendons and muscles, which in turn can aid in the relief of your pain and assists in the prevention of further injury.
Third, FLX Knee Support can be worn on the right or left knee by either male or female. Its component pieces are durable and hypoallergenic. It also retains its shape and is still comfortable after hours of use.
Fourth, FLX Knee Support was designed to assist not only in the treatment of knee injuries, but also in the prevention of knee injuries. .
FLX Knee Support anatomic design works in conjunction with the motion of each person’s knee. As you move, it gently applies pressure to the correct area of your joint liner and patellar tendon that can help in the relief of your knee pain, soreness, stiffness and inflammation. By stabilizing the inferior pole of your patella, FLX Knee Support may also improve patellar tracking.
FLX Knee Support enables your muscles to relax, which reduces stress on your tendons and muscles. So you may wear it for a long period of time with complete comfort.
FLX Knee Supportis specially made so that it can be worn on the right or left knee and easily adjusts to fit the contour of the patella and patellar tendon... One size fits everyone.
Years of research have gone into the development of FLX Knee Support. Dozens of proto- types have been designed, tested and discarded. This is the accumulation of 27 years expert knowledge by a leading orthopaedic surgeon. As this product works so well for so many people, our test pricing showed that we could sell this for £149 and people would still buy it. However, we are keeping the FLX KNee Support at a selling price at a level that makes it affordable to as many people as possible. This decision slashes most of the profit from this promotion but, we are more than happy to continue as we know the power of word-of-mouth sales. Once you discover how FLX Knee Support can help you, we know you’ll recommend it to friends and family.
Knee Braces: Current Evidence and Clinical Recommendations for Their Use
SCOTT A. PALUSKA, M.D.,and DOUGLAS B. MCKEAG, M.D., M.S., University of Pittsburgh Medical Center–Shadyside, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Summary
Patellofemoral braces are an inexpensive, subjectively helpful component of anterior knee pain therapy. Their mechanism of action remains unclear, but most appear to improve patellar tracking through a medially directed force. Changes in regional temperature, neurosensory feedback or circulation may also contribute to their effects. Overall, patellofemoral braces should be used in conjunction with a comprehensive knee rehabilitation program that includes strengthening, flexibility and technique improvements.
A randomised trial of a brace for patellofemoral osteoarthritis targeting knee pain and bone marrow lesions
Correspondence to Dr David Felson, Clinical Epidemiology Unit, Boston University School of Medicine, 650 Albany Street, X-200, Boston, MA
Results: We randomised 126 subjects aged 40–70 years (mean age 55.5 years; 72 females (57.1%)). Mean nominated visual analogue scale (0–10cm) pain score at baseline was 6.5cm. 94 knees (75%) had PF BMLs at baseline. Subjects wore the brace for a mean of 7.4h/day. 6 subjects withdrew during the trial. After accounting for baseline values, the brace group had lower knee pain than the control group at 6 weeks (difference between groups −1.3cm, 95% CI −2.0 to −0.7; p<0.001) and reduced PF BML volume (difference −490.6mm3, 95% CI −929.5 to −51.7; p=0.03) but not tibiofemoral volume (difference −53.9mm3, 95% CI −625.9 to 518.2; p=0.85).
Conclusions: A PF brace reduces BML volume in the targeted compartment of the knee, and relieves knee pain..
